New ID cards for priests
 (02-03-2011)

Durable and secured ID cards with colour personalisation have already been provided to priests in several dioceses.  More priests will receive them soon. PWPW S.A. takes care of the production and personalisation of these documents.

First documents have already been provided to priests from the Warsaw Archdiocese, Tarnów Diocese and PÅ‚ock Diocese. More dioceses are interested in the document. It is possible that priests from some dioceses will receive contactless microprocessor cards, which will carry certificates allowing access to selected diocese databases.

Priest ID cards are treated as documents that confirm the identity of their holders. So far, they have mostly been provided in the form of paper booklets, but more and more dioceses now opt for the modern solution, namely the plastic cards, which are secure, durable and comfortable. These modern ID cards are manufactured in the PCP technology developed by PWPW, whichallows enclosing a colour photograph in the card’s structure. The card is also secured by UV-visible elements. The reverse of the card has separate fields for holograms, which will lengthen the card’s validity term. Their graphic pattern, designed by PWPW, is common for each diocese. Depending on the diocese, the cards may contain the following personal details: full name, date and place of birth, date and place of taking holy orders and the position held.

PWPW S.A. is a joint-stock company held in 100% by the State Treasury. The company manufactures ID cards, biometric passports, driver and vehicle documents (driving licences, vehicle registration cards, vehicle cards), banknotes, excise bands, digital tachograph cards, post stamps, secure paper and plastic cards. PWPW S.A. also produces passports for the Republic of Lithuania and Bangladesh.
