PWPW to be Ekstraklasa’s technological partner
 (22-06-2012)

On 22 June 2012 Ekstraklasa SA started cooperating with Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych SA. Under the agreement concluded the company has become a new Technological Partner of the Professional League within the scope of the ‘Central System for Identification of Participants of Football Matches’ project.

The scope of cooperation is directly connected with the requirements that Ekstraklasa SA and clubs must meet under the Act on Security of Mass Events of 2009 (and under updates thereof) and that include compatibility of electronic systems for identification of persons on Professional League stadiums as well as maintenance and administration of the Central System for Identification of Participants of Football Matches by an entity responsible for those matches.

By the end of season 2011/2012 all support connected with meeting the requirements of the Act on Security of Mass Events has been provided to Ekstraklasa SA and to its clubs by Estis. Due to the fact that the agreement regarding services referred to above expires on 1 July 2012 as well as due to the events which took place over the past few weeks and which regarded business activity of Estis (the Management Board of Estis filed a bankruptcy petition with a court and resigned), Ekstraklasa SA has taken immediate actions to ensure that the requirements of the Act are still met by Ekstraklasa SA and its clubs and that top level standards and procedures regarding security at Professional League stadiums are still followed. A new Technological Partner of Ekstraklasa SA, i.e. Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych SA, guarantees that the said standards shall be kept.

‘Cooperation with Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych SA most importantly guarantees that the regulations under the Act on Security of Mass Events will be followed. This is a very important information, especially in view of preparations for the next season. I would also like to stress that our new partner helped us to review current costs related to the operation of the system. Unlike in the case of cooperation with Estis, this project will focus mainly on following generally applicable legal regulations, other business goals being of secondary importance,’ says Marcin Animucki, Member of the Management Board of Ekstraklasa SA ‘PWPW SA is a strong and stable entity whose experience and qualifications are priceless for our company,’ adds Marcin Animucki.

Polska Wytwórnia Papierów Wartościowych is a joint stock company in which the State Treasury owns 100% of shares. The company, apart from its traditional activity connected with production of banknotes and security prints, manufactures personalized documents with new technologies, e.g. software modules, RFID solutions and biometrics. Additionally, PWPW SA has extensive experience in designing, implementing and maintaining identity verification systems. The company is also competent in electronic authorization and authentication systems. PWPW SA is a company of strategic importance to security of the state and its citizens. It manufactures Polish banknotes in circulation and, acting upon the order of the Ministry of Interior, provides ID blanks and biometric passport booklets. PWPW SA also produces and personalizes transportation documents (driving licenses, vehicle registration cards, vehicle cards). Finally, PWPW SA manufactures tachograph cards and operates the system thereof.
