Almost one hundred thousand entities have registered in the trace and track system for tobacco products | |

96,665 – this is the number of entities which had registered in the ID ISSUER trace and track system for tobacco products – launched ten days ago by PWPW – before 7 o’clock on 20 May 2019, i.e. the moment when the EU law entered into force.
ID ISSUER (www.IDissuer.pl) is a system created to allow for electronic registration of entities involved in trade in tobacco products on the Polish market, and the registration obligation applies to retail chains, shops and outlets selling tobacco products. According to the data of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, there are about 100,000 such retail outlets in the entire country, which means that 97% of the market has already registered.
On the day when the EU Directive concerning the track and trace system entered into force, almost the entire retail market was already registered in the system, and last Friday, all domestic tobacco manufacturers signed contracts with PWPW and started ordering their IDs.
– I am proud that the PWPW team managed to meet the expectations of all sides, from the EU and national administration to producers, wholesalers, retailers and other entities involved in trade in tobacco products. On the day when the new law becomes effective, almost 97% of the tobacco market in Poland has completed the registration process, and the system prepared by PWPW has been working flawlessly since its launch. This confirms the intuitive character and quality of our solution. It is also worth emphasizing that we have signed contracts with all domestic tobacco manufacturers, which means that the entire Polish market is ready to operate under the new law – said Maciej Biernat, President of the Board of PWPW.
PWPW was responsible for preparing the system for registering entities participating in trade in tobacco products. The solution prepared by PWPW provided an option of registering many entities at the same time which was used by the largest distributors in Poland. One of the system users registered almost 16,500 entities. This option allowed the largest chain of retail stores in Poland to register almost 3200 stores at once, and the largest oil concern, more than 1300 outlets.
– I can confirm that the preparation and launch of the ID ISSUER system by PWPW was successful. This is demonstrated not only by the efficient operation of the system and the scale of registration, but also by the fact that we have already received requests from foreign institutions interested in implementing PWPW’s solution in other European Union countries. We are currently discussing such possibilities – added President Biernat.
On May 20, EU regulations imposing the obligation to register tobacco products in the track and trace system within the EU territories came into force. Everyone who wants to participate in the trade of these products is obligated to register in the ID ISSUER system. The European Commission decided to introduce the registration system to eliminate illegal trade in tobacco products.
